Over the last 11 years I’ve had the privilege of helping so many dog lovers transform their good dogs into incredible dogs!

A sincere thank-you to everyone who has been on the journey with me since we launched The Online Dog Trainer in 2009. It’s because of you and your amazing pups that all of this is possible!

I knew I wanted to do something BIG as a thank-you to further help dog parents and their pups. What started as a small idea quickly turned into a complete overhaul of my Online Dog Trainer membership site and mobile app, and I can’t wait to share it with you all!

What’s new? How do you use it? And why is now the best time to restart your dog training journey if you’ve been on a break?

Keep reading to find out all the details…

What’s New In The Online Dog Trainer Membership Site

First things first…

I want to make sure you’re aware that The Online Dog Trainer is still packed full of the same amazing content that was there before! So, no worries if you’re still in the process of consuming the information!

What is taught in the online courses is tried and true, so there was no need to scrap anything and start over.

This being said, we have added a bunch of new and exciting things. Think of it as getting a big bonus with all the updates that were made.

Here’s what’s now available that wasn’t accessible before…

New Dashboard with Course Progression

Doggy-Dan-Releases-New-State-of-the-Art-Membership-Website-BLOG-IMAGES-1

Tracking your progress and completing the courses has never been easier with our updated dashboard and course progression feature. At a glance you can quickly tell where you’re at and where you’re going next so you can easily visualize what you need to complete!

Better yet, the new lesson layout further ensures that you’re completing the courses in the most effective order for optimal training! This is key to your success; after all, dog training requires various foundations that must be built in a thought-out order.

Most importantly we’ve created new pathways that make it incredibly easy to work your way through all the materials without getting lost! Check out how the site guides you step by step, as shown in the image below!

Doggy-Dan-Releases-New-State-of-the-Art-Membership-Website-BLOG-IMAGES-2

Personalized Competition Certificates

Doggy-Dan-Releases-New-State-of-the-Art-Membership-Website-BLOG-IMAGES-3

We all need a little pat on the back from time-to-time and our personalized lesson completion certificates deliver just that!

Now you can feel accomplished as you’re awarded certifications while completing course lessons. How fun!

Dog Training Level Indicator and Points System

Doggy-Dan-Releases-New-State-of-the-Art-Membership-Website-BLOG-IMAGES-4

Need a little extra motivation to get the training work done? You’re not alone.

Putting the time and energy into training your dog can be a lot of work, so we thought it would be fun to incentivise everyone to follow through and get the work done.

We did this by including dog training level indications (start at “good dog” and work your way up to “The Lassie of Dogs”). But that’s not all…

As you complete the courses (and various other tasks) you’ll be awarded not only with points but also with Doggy Dollars! Which brings me to the next awesome feature…

Doggy Dollars

Doggy-Dan-Releases-New-State-of-the-Art-Membership-Website-BLOG-IMAGES-5

As I just mentioned, completing courses and other various tasks will earn you what I call “Doggy Dollars.”

These Doggy Dollars can be collected and used to “purchase” awesome prizes like additional training modules and audio books or discounts on products like my line of Doggy Dan Angel Oil or my No-Pull Harness.

There are a ton of prizes you can pick from, which makes earning your Doggy Dollars while completing course materials so much fun!

Daily Goal Tracker

Doggy-Dan-Releases-New-State-of-the-Art-Membership-Website-BLOG-IMAGES-6

If you’re a goal-oriented person my new daily goal tracker tool will be sure to make your tail wag.

Select your goal for earning points each day, and track yourself to make sure you’re reaching your personal goals.

Beautiful New Mobile App

Doggy-Dan-Releases-New-State-of-the-Art-Membership-Website-BLOG-IMAGES-7

If you’re anything like me, you’re constantly on the go! That makes watching courses and tracking your progression from a desktop incredibly difficult.

Good news…

When we overhauled the membership website we also built a beautiful new mobile app that contains everything on our updated website. It’s almost ready for use, and we are so excited!

Learn more about the mobile app and when it will be available here!

Bigger, More User-Friendly Forum

Doggy-Dan-Releases-New-State-of-the-Art-Membership-Website-BLOG-IMAGES-8

I truly believe one of the most valuable things for dog owners is to have a community where you can share your struggles, successes, and ask questions to solve all your difficult dog training problems.

Over the years we’ve built a beautiful community forum for doing just that.

While the forum is mostly the same, we’ve expanded it a bit with new and exciting dog- related threads for people to enjoy.

How big do you ask?

We’ve got…

  • 28 Forums
  • Over 10,000 dog-related topics
  • Almost 40,000 posts

Over 77,700 members

That’s a lot of incredibly helpful resources!

Best of all, the updated look and feel makes it much easier to use so you can share your stories, ask questions, or help others quickly and easily.

How to Use the New Site: The Online Dog Trainer Membership Site Video Tour

I could write on and on about all the cool new features of the updated Online Dog Trainer website, but we’d be here for ages!

And trying to explain how to use everything via text probably isn’t the most efficient way to help you out! So, I created a quick video tour that will give you a much better idea of how to use the site and how everything works.

I encourage you to check it out above…

  1. I’m not sure how to access the audio version or even the regular version. When I try to sign in I keep getting error messages and I can’t get in.

  2. Congratulations on your new website!
I have not seen it yet in the Ap store here in the US but I’ll keep checking. Can’t wait. I’ve been immersed in the sections about barking. We’ve recently sold our house. Ruby’s (my 1 1/2 year old Aussie mini) main observable reaction has been to bark at everything and everyone. She is particularly vocal in the car. This presents a real challenge to utilize some of the suggestions made in the videos: I can’t get between her and the people she’s barking at (everyone) from the back seat of the car. Any idea what I can do from here. I feel sorry for her. She was always a great traveler but/and it’s unnerving and scary to anyone that happens to park next to us. Thanks, Sandy

    1. Thanks Sandy!
Moving home is a BIG deal for our dogs, even more so than we realise. It can leave them feeling unsettled and vulnerable and a result of this can be a change in behaviour. Reassuring Ruby, in the right way, that she is safe and has nothing to worry about can help get things back on track far more rapidly. If you are a member of my membership website then we do have a topic that covers barking in the car, and practice is an important factor in helping Ruby overcome her behaviour. If it’s safe to do so then you could try a Calm Freeze until Ruby is quiet and calm, or if you are driving then pulling the car over and stopping can help too…..again, this is why we practice as it’s not always easy to just stop the car on a busy road…quieter roads are where we start. Pay close attention to how Ruby is put in the car as well, we cover this in our barking topics. All the Best, Doggy Dan

  3. I’m confused, Is the “dog calming code” seperate from the main course? Are you not able to access it via the regular full monthly paid memberhip?

    1. Hi Margie, let me explain how thing work!
The Dog Calming Code is the ultimate learning course for our foundational method of the actual 5 Golden Rules of the Code explained through the use of videos and articles. You have unlimited access (meaning you can access it whenever you like for as long as you like- but only from 3 devices) and can watch and re-watch as often as you like…and learn at your own pace. The videos can only be accessed inside the website and again your access is a lifetime.
The Complete Pack is the full suite of training courses inside The Online Dog Trainer, which already includes the Dog Calming Code, but sooo much more!
      Dog Calming Code
Everyday Tools & Techniques (Contains easy tools you can implement into your daily training routine)
      Puppy Training
Project Moses (Realistic expectation of the milestones your puppy is achieving)
All Dog Problems Solved (Covers over 30 behavioral issues and gives impactful solutions that solve those problems)
Dog Training 101 (The basics every dog owner needs to train and form a trusted relationship with their pup)
Payment is monthly, but can also be upgraded to a 6-month or 12-month subscription.
The Complete Pack also has the forum which is filled with thousands and thousands of puppy and dog issues that have already been solved by our team of Pack Experts. It’s an amazing community full of passionate dog lovers unlike any other community out there!
Hope that explains everything! All the Best, Doggy Dan

    1. Thanks Patricia!
We are really proud of the changes we have made to the website, and I’m glad you like them too! All the best. Doggy Dan

Just started the dog calming course and from day one I’m seeing positive changes in my recently adopted rescue dog. He’s responding very well to me as Pack Leader and today a walk on the moor with other dogs about was much more relaxed. A long way to go but I expect daily progress from now on

Love your methods. We are still trying to incorporate these 5 steps. We are in our 70’s so it takes us a little longer.

I haven’t moved past the 1st lesson but I have been very diligent with my 2 rescue dogs - I’ve had 1 for 2 1/2 yrs the other only 4 weeks - my old rescue died 6 months ago aged 17yrs (I adopted him when he was 9 months old) Barking at the front fence and terrifying people has been my issue - while on walks they are the friendliest dogs I have been able to make myself fully available to them as I only work 2 night shifts fortnightly I have consistently gone out when they bark and say ‘thank you’ I’m all good! This week I included one of my other commands that I use when I feed them - I put their food bowls down and say stay - when I’m ready I say ‘come’ and they eagerly run to their bowls - this week I’ve included saying ‘thank you - come’ when they bark and they are now coming to me straight away Barking is lessening substantially but not yet ceased - I see it on the horizon I’m looking forward to moving onto the next lesson soon

Great. Change my mindset. Don't anthropomorphise the dog. They adopted us. I see the change in my over anxious young dog. I've tried quite a few other training methods in person and online BUT this one gets results. Positive results, tangible results. I needed results to help not only my dog and I but my husband and other people and dogs we meet in public places. Thanks Dan.

So far, so good! We started the Calming Dog a few weeks ago and while we humans have not been perfect at it, we are seeing differences in our dog. He is an incredibly reactive and protective dog, so the changes we have had to date are a huge blessing. I'm impressed at the approach, the actual simplicity of it combined with the science of dog behavior. Thank you, Doggy Dan and team!

Ridley is my 4th dog. After listening to and learning from Doggy Dan, I was happy to see that I did pretty well with my first 3 dogs while raising my kids and having my husband with me. Not perfect - but pretty good! Now I am raising a new dog by myself, and I feel like I'm not doing this really "alone." I really am so happy with all the information Dan has offered... and all his techniques work well!!

Two months ago I adopted a 7 year old Morkie, a very nervous but loving little fellow. I tried several different training techniques and even purchased a program that was lengthy and very time consuming before I discovered Doggy Dan. I've been using his program for two weeks and am astounded by the change in my Dexter. He is calmer, more obedient and friendlier to others than I imagined possible. Dan's training is concise. It differs from others I found, Dan trains you to become the leader of your pack through a dog's perspective. I like that the training is specific yet compassionate. This is a program that works if you are consistent. Thanks Doggy Dan!

Susie in the UK. I am only 10 days in but took in a 9 yr old emergency rescue from Romania who had been in kennels for 6 years and then had 3 failed foster placements in the UK. Luca is a big powerful mixed breed with huge stress and anxiety and very reactive, he bounded into my home and took over - aggressive with my 2 others, and visitors and pulling and pushing on walks. I thought I couldn't handle him but saw an advert for Doggy Dan on line and signed up - we've had a wonderful turnaround and he is finally decompressing, being polite with my dogs and responds excellently to the time-out if reactive with guests. Walks are much better and all 5 rules are in place. I believe he will continue to improve but only if I remain 100% consistent with him for the rest of his life. He is 9 years old and deserves a happy old age being loved and looked after with no further upsets in his life so fingers and toes are crossed for him

I started. The course 3/4 weeks ago. As Dan says you have to work on things if you get stuck. I have a Staffordshire x cane corso who is now six months old. She is very intelligent but sometimes she just doesn’t listen. Doing the five codes I’m finding it’s going pretty well except trying to get her calm so I am persevering with it again with my own space. I have a trainer call shortly which I will ask for advice on this. It’s great also that you can ask anything you’re not sure of on line. It’s so great to have someone there to help. I’m looking forward to having a relaxed girl instead of hyper most of the time as she gets so excited about almost everything. I would truly recommend doggy Dan and just wished I would have come across him much earlier. Thanks again for everything so far.

This program is amazing!. We have a VERY reactive rescue dog that has bitten his previous owner and as well, myself 3x and my husband 4 x's. He had never been around people or other animals, and had never been walked on a leash. (in fact never run off-leash either, just tied to the front steps). We began with traditional treat-based training with a professional, but the progress was frustrating. A reactive dog does not want treats; it wants comfort. With the 5 Golden Rules and and some of the other training we have received with our subscription, in just 3 weeks, we can let him off leash at the dog park, he has not growled at any stranger, and he has not attacked any other animals. He is still a work in progress, but we see progress!!!! He has become a cuddly, sweet dog and for a greyhound, he even has recall! This program is amazing to say the least. We were at our wits end, but now we have hope.

Okay, he says it’s not magic, but the results and the peace in so little time with so little effort sure feels like magic! My 11 month old pup was a 60lb highly reactive, very loud disaster waiting to happen. Now we are both calm, the house is quiet and I don’t live in absolute fear of his reactivity towards others. There’s always still work/training to do of course, but wow are we in a much better place to get on with that!

Just started with the 5 rules. It's only been a week and a half and I'm noticing less stress, and a reduction in reactivity. We still have a way to go. But finally something I can work with. I went for the online course.

We have an 8 month old Goldendoodle who has fear issues outside the home and gets easily overwhelmed going into panic/flee mode if several triggers coincide (people, loud dog barking and noises like motorcycles/construction). So pleased to find Doggy Dan and seeing positive changes after just two weeks. Feeding time is calm after using the gesture eating and "thank you" when he barks works a treat. I realized I'm babying my dog too much and trying to be his best pal instead of a leader so I'm working hard on that. We've changed to the no pull harness and love that. Doggy Dans video clips really help bring the philosophy together and I love his attitude. He is calm, clear, firm but so kind and loving with dogs and very down to earth and relatable. I've got great help too from the AI coach and the daily emails and videos help keep us on track and feeling positive. We've still got a mountain to climb with our pup but I finally feel hopeful and supported. We'd tried trainers, behavior specialists and all sorts before finding Doggy Dan and this is by far our best investment. Can't recommend you trying this highly enough. Photo of our boy.

I couldn’t believe my dog’s problem resolved completely within a week! Easy but not easy if you are inconsistent with the 5 rules. I highly recommend this method! Somethings don’t seem important or relevant but they are!

I just started my training about 2 weeks ago, and I do mean MY training. My 2 girls are really responding to my changes in how I am relating to them better. Thank you Doggy Dan, I really needed this win, 2 reactive dogs and we have made progress with the 5 golden rules and we have not with anything else.
