How To Become a Dog Trainer: Finding Stability in a COVID-19 World

How-To-Become-a-Dog-Trainer-Finding-Stability-in-a-COVID-19-World-HEADLINE-IMAGE2020 was a rough year for just about everyone around the world due to the COVID-19 virus that spread like wildfire across the globe.

While I don’t take lightly the hardships that many people have faced, I have taken time to reflect on the positives that such a pandemic has taught us. The two most important lessons that come to mind are:

Having the time and flexibility to live your life to the fullest because tomorrow is never guaranteed

AND

The ability to adapt and find creative ways to earn income to ensure that you and your family are provided for.

You see, a lot of us are chained down to jobs that absolutely drain us and consume all of our precious time. The worst part, whether because of a global pandemic or simply a company-wide downsizing, there’s no guarantee that we won’t find ourselves out of work despite dedicating our lives to our jobs.

So how do you reclaim your life while also supporting yourself financially? You take your passion and turn it into a career!

That’s what I did years ago when I became fed up with working jobs that didn’t feed my soul and took precious time away from my hobbies and family. And I’m here to encourage you to start thinking about doing the same thing!

“Me…become a dog trainer? But Dan, I don’t know the first thing about dog training!”

Here’s a little secret…I didn’t either when I first started. But over the years my career as a dog trainer has provided me with stability and flexibility—even amid a pandemic!

Is starting a dog-training career the right move for you? Let’s take a look at why working with dogs might be.…

Could You Become a Dog Trainer?

First things first, I think it’s important to make clear that not everyone can become a great certified dog trainer. If you hate working with people and dislike it’s never going to work!

However, it doesn’t matter…

  • How old you are.
  • How much education you have.
  • How much experience you have with dogs.
  • Where you’re located in the world.
  • How physically fit you are.

If you…

  1. Have a passion for dogs
  2. Can talk to dog owners about their dogs better
  3. And are willing to learn kind and gentle dog-training techniques

…then absolutely you can become a certified dog trainer. In fact, you don’t even need to own a dog to become a good trainer! Coming from the heart, wanting to help and loving dogs is the key…

I know this is true as I’ve had a large variety of people, from college kids to retirees, finding great success with a dog-training career after completing my Dog Trainer Academy program. (We’ll talk more about this program in a bit, so keep reading!)

Knowing this, there’s no excuse! If you have a passion for dogs and are looking for a new career path (or simply a way to earn a little extra income), this might be your moment to try something new!

Dog Training: A Career Path that Weathers the Toughest Storms

Making a career move (even if it’s only a side job or a part-time position) can be daunting…especially during these uncertain times. But if there’s one thing that COVID-19 has proven, it’s that dog-training work is still much needed—especially when people are quarantined at home all day long with their pets!

I, and my Dog Trainer Academy students, haven’t missed a beat over the last year. In fact, dog trainers are more in demand than ever.

Why? A few reasons…

More people are working from home. That means they need their pups to be on their best behavior while they work and attend meetings from the living room—AKA they can’t have their pups getting into the trash or barking during important phone calls.

Second, isolation has been lonely for many people, which has led to an increase in people adopting dogs. And you know what people need when they bring a new canine companion into their lives? You guessed it…a qualified dog trainer to help them get their pup started on the right paw!

Finally, since people have been stuck at home, they simply are spending more time around their pups. This can lead to dog owners discovering that their pups exhibit unwanted behaviors that they need help solving!

While we hope that the world settles down and returns to “normal” soon, we also know that the way we live and work has been changed forever. More and more people are going to be operating out of their homes, so it’s more important than ever that their fur babies are properly trained to live and work in the same space!

A New Approach to Training Dogs from a Distance

I truly believe that as a dog trainer it’s best to work with your clients and their pups in person. However, the COVID-19 pandemic has proven that it’s possible to successfully train dogs from a distance via Zoom calls/online meetings.

How is this possible?

The techniques I use in my Dog Trainer Academy program are all based on psychology. The goal is to win a dog’s mind, and these skills can all be communicated without ever stepping foot in a client’s home.

This is why my program has been so successful, even during a global pandemic. All of my dog trainers are able to continue their work in a safe, socially distanced manner.

Once the world becomes a safer place I hope my clients resume face-to-face training sessions. However, if you have a computer and an Internet connection you’ve got everything you need to become a successful dog trainer!

I’m intrigued…How Do I Become a Professional Dog Trainer?

Learning to become a dog trainer might seem like an intimidating task, but as I said earlier ANYONE can do it!

Best of all it doesn’t require years of school, a fancy degree, or a large monetary investment. If you’re willing to put some time and effort into learning how to kindly and gently work with dogs then you’ve got almost everything you need to get started.

Of course, you could research online or visit a dog-training school or read books on how to work with dogs. But there’s so much information out there it can be hard to sort through.

That’s why I’ve created my very own dog-training program…the Dog Trainer Academy.

This program contains information on EVERYTHING you need to become a dog trainer. In fact, the course content (which includes tons of videos of me training dogs in real life) will educate you on how to help dogs with a variety of behavioral issues from jumping and barking to biting and aggression.

My favorite part of the program, however, is the community that comes with it. All Dog Trainer Academy students enjoy a private forum where they can ask questions, help each other with training problems, and even seek advice from my seasoned dog trainers!

The best part…

You can work through the Dog Trainer Academy at your own pace and, once you’re finished, you’ll receive your official Dog Trainer Academy certification that will make you a credible dog trainer!

The world we live in is ever-changing and unpredictable. But, there is something you can do to open up a new avenue that will bring both joy and extra income into your home…join my Dog Trainer Academy!

You’ve got nothing to lose while at least checking it out!
